The Bronze Bow

The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Speare  was recommended to us by a friend.  Fully clean, some violence, no course language.

Over the summer Caleb and I  both read the Witch of Black Bird Pond and Elliot, Caleb and I read the Sign of the Beaver.  Both highly recommended books by the same author.  Caleb finished it first and said "mom - you have to read this."  It's about a boy/ young man who is lives in Jesus time desperately seeking a King to set him free from Roman rule.  He follows a violent zealot, makes Jewish friends, and serves his sister who hadn't been the same since his father had been killed by the Romans.  When he begins having interactions with Jesus, the melting begins.  It is a beautiful portrayal of how people living during the years of Jesus ministry may have viewed him.  Very good and thought procoking book.
