As I brought the kiddos home from the Y today, it struck me how much things have changed from this time last year. Jan 11, 2006, Jesse and Maya were new walkers, constantly falling over. Heading out the door required tying Caleb and Elliot's shoes, getting coats, hats, mittens, on all 4, changing 3 diapers, being sure to have 2 sets of snacks (with spoons and bibs), 2 back-up outfits, 6 diapers/wipes, toys, as well as 2 bottles, 2 sippy cups, and one LARGE coffee. Taking 3-4 trips out to the van to carry 2 carseats, the monster bag, and maybe one hesitant Elliot.
Today, I get home from the Y, Elliot and Caleb take off their own buckles. I open the van door, freeing Caleb and Elliot, unbuckling Jesse and Maya from their car seats, and they all independently walk to the door. They may even carry their own stuff! Oh the joyful bliss of being with all my children, but only carrying my things on the one trip, not 4, to the car.
Once inside, they put away their stuff (with some assistance) and go off to play. It is wonderful! But, how are these days passing so quickly? Will they not need me at all soon?
