3-year-old understanding of sin

Elliot - I'm never gonna sin again!
Daddy - That's a good thing to try to do.
Elliot - I hate sin.
Elliot - I'm really gonna hate sin.
Daddy- It's right to hate sin.
Elliot - I'm right to hate sin.
Daddy- It's good to hate sin, but you have to remember to still love the person that is sinning.
Daddy- Do you think mommy and daddy ever sin?
Elliot - No.
Mommy - What about when I am angry, is that sin?
Elliot - Yes.
Daddy - Do mommy and daddy sin?
Elliot - Yes (smiling)
Elliot - I really don't like spankings
Mommy - I don't like them either.
Daddy - That's one reason to hate sin, but what is the most important reason?
Elliot - To obey God and Jesus.
