Sweet Hearts

Today, Caleb and Elliot ran down from nap time all excited. Before I had a chance to remind them that mommy's peace and quiet time was NOT over, they said "But Mommy, you've got to hear this! We each have a dollar, that's all that I (Caleb) have left. We want to give it to that place that helps mommys who have babies and no money. Can we please, please please?!? So, we got out an envelope and we plan to send it out tomorrow. I'm so thankful for their sweet, caring hearts.

Now, earlier in nap time, Elliot came down with equal excitement, beaming from ear to ear. For some reason, Elliot has money coming out of his ears. I think it's still birthday money. Caleb spent his on the solar system project and a game. So, after they pooled their resources today to buy a much desired "hard bat" at the thrift store, Caleb was left with nothing. (Except for his beloved $2 bill. He won't part with that no matter how precious the purchase.) Anyway, back to the story...

Elliot was so excited that he had decided to share a dollar with Caleb. He eagerly added that it was all his (Elliot's) idea and he really wanted to be kind to Caleb. My heart melted to see his joy in sharing what he had with his brother.

So, with Caleb's newly gained dollar and another from Elliot's stash, the boys chose to help a mom in need. I'll have to think of some bonus chores so they can earn more than their $0.40 this week in job money.
